Hello my name is Phil. I’m an Englishman and I’m a teacher. When introducing myself to new students in our first class I usually draw some simple pictures of myself on the whiteboard. The pictures represent parts of my life. Next I ask the students to guess what they stand for. So the first picture is of a small island with the letters HK…. I was born and lived in Hong Kong for the first six years of my life…. this always surprises the students! Then I draw pictures of people….eight people. One represents my wife and two more are my daughters plus seven smaller ones…my grandchildren. Next are pictures of books, a camera, a garden, a bottle of wine with two glasses, a chef’s hat and lastly a sports car… all things that are great interests for me! And then it’s the students turn to share about themselves…in English of course!
